EU sugar policy: Imports

The EU has traditionally been both a major exporter and importer of sugar. Most imports are cane sugar for refining from the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries and from the world’s Least Developed Countries (LDCs), which have quota-free, duty-free access to the EU market. ACP countries must have agreed an Economic Partnership Agreement with the EU to benefit from market access.
