Ketchup market squeezed by trade spat and lower demand

Exports of tomato ketchup declined slightly in the first four months of 2019 as Canada drastically reduced its intake from the US following an anti-Heinz campaign and the trade spat between Ottawa and Washington. Overall, ketchup consumption remains flat as more and more countries have increased domestic production to increase their profit margin from paste or just started to import tomato paste for reprocessing.
