Latest Brazilian orange forecast projects one-third increase

The Fundecitrus 2019/20 forecast for São Paulo and the west/south-west Minais Gerais belt is 389 million boxes, 36% higher than the previous harvest of 286 mln boxes. Some 27.21 mln boxes are expected to be produced in the Triangulo Mineiro.

Fundecitrus says that the grove yield recovery “was triggered mainly by a climate that favoured bloom and fruit set”. The average yield is 1,051 boxes per hectare and 2.24 boxes per tree, compared with 576 boxes/ha and 1.63 boxes/tree in the 2018/19 crop.
