Singapore proposes to introduce beverage sugar tax

Proposed restrictive measures extend to advertising to children


The island state’s Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Health Promotion Board (HPB) are taking these steps to reduce sugar intake from pre-packaged, sugar-sweetened drinks. A public consultation period is now in force until January 25 next year, to obtain feedback on four proposed measures to cut down sugar intake from these beverages.
