Podcast: Is the EU sugar market in the doldrums?

The post-quota era has been a difficult one for EU sugar beet with over supply, depressed prices and a pesticide ban weighing on the market.

The EU sugar market currently finds itself in turmoil following the end of its quota's last October, with its competitiveness under risk leading farmers to cut production or consider crop switching all together. This year's ban on the use of Neonicotinoids also poses an additional challenge for the sector.

In this podcast Senior News Analyst for IEG Vu, Sandra Boga talks to International Sugar Journal (ISJ) editor Arvind Chudasama and Agribusiness reports specialist Alan Bullion live from the International Sugar Organization’s (ISO) annual seminar to discuss whether the EU’s sugar market is in a grave crisis, as well as other highlights of the event including the impact of Brexit.
