Turkish fresh lemon imports found to contain excessive pesticide residues

EU destroys or rejects the contaminated fruit

The EU has acknowledged that, since the start of the 2018/19 lemon season in September, its Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has notified three health alerts following the detection in Bulgaria of three batches of Turkish lemons with chlorpyrifos present in concentrations that more than doubled the EU’s MRL (Maximum Residue Limit).
