Energy drink maker accuses of trade barriers to its sales

Monster Energy is complaining to US trade officials that it faces an increasing number of non-science-based barriers to exclude its products from Europe and other regions.

A leading energy drink manufacturer, Monster, said more than 23 billion cans of energy drinks have been safely consumed since 2002. The company, which entered into a strategic partnership with the Coca-Cola Company to act as a preferred global distributor, said the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), Health Canada and FDA view the products as safe.
