The talks’ new chair, Kenya’s Ambassador Stephen Ndung’u Karau (pictured above, centre), has been consulting delegations since his appointment on April 26, 2017. In his first proper negotiations meeting on June 1–2, he reported that negotiators “have revised their expectations about what could be achievable by [the Buenos Aires conference]”.
