Novel foods deal hinges on cloning and delegated acts

Closely-linked to this, Parliament told the presidency and Commission representatives in ‘trilogue’ talks on May 12 that decisions setting up the Union authorised list of novel foods and adding substances to it afterwards should be open to parliamentary scrutiny through delegated acts.  This way Parliament would be able to veto any applications for foods from clones (and probably more significantly from offspring of clones) in future, Agra Europe’s sister title EU Food Law reports.
