Second phase of FMD vaccination begins November 1 in most states
Most Brazilian states will do the second phase of FMD vaccination in November. 150 million animals will have been vaccinated by the end of this phase. In the states of Acre, Alagoas, Amazonas, Ceará, Espírito Santo, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Pará, Paraíba, Paraná, Pernambuco, Piauí, Rio Grande do Norte, and São Paulo the entire cattle and buffalo herd will be immunized. In the Bahia, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul (except in the Pantanal), Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Sergipe, and Tocantins and the Federal District the November dose is mandatory only for animals up to 24 months old.
