Live hog price falls slowing in São Paulo
Falls in the price of live pigs, driven by increased supply, slowed in most of the regions surveyed by Cepea this week, as many producers have refused to sell at current levels. The proximity of the end of the month normally limits sales. Between July 13 and 20 in the SP-5 region (Bragança Paulista, Campinas, Piracicaba, São Paulo and Sorocaba), the price of live hogs rose by 1.8%, closing at R$ 3.45 / kg on July 19. Up to July 20, however, prices had fallen by 11.3%.
Wholesale is oversupplied and special carcasses in São Paulo sold at R$ 5.36 / kg on July 20, down by 2.8% in a week. Regular carcasses fell by 2.6% to R$ 5.05 / kg on July 20.
