First stage of FMD vaccination campaign in the state of São Paulo ends on Tuesday
Farmers have until June 7 to declare to the Agricultural Protection Offices that they have vaccinated their herds against FMD. The first cattle FMD vaccination phase in the state of São Paulo ends on Tuesday, March 3.The campaign aims to immunize all cattle and buffalo aged up to two years old, reports the state Department of Agriculture and Supply.
The second phase will begin in November, to vaccinate animals of all ages. Vaccination is essential to maintaining São Paulo's good standing in sanitary terms. This has a direct influence on meat exports, as a possible outbreak of the disease can close international markets and also restrict the internal market, costing farmers millions.
