Mato Gross: cattle slaughter in December lowest in five years
The Mato Grosso Livestock Farming Institute (IMEA-MT) has reported that cattle slaughter in December 0215 was 387,410 head. This is the lowest volume of animals slaughtered in a December since 2010. In 2015 overall, cattle slaughter fell by 15.22% on 2014, to 4.68 million head.
Much has been said about this drop in volume slaughtered in the state, attributing it to the downward livestock cycle, the recovery of the herd, and the retention of breeding cows. This is confirmed when one looks at the data. While the fall in the slaughter of males was 300,060 head, the fall in the slaughter of females was 540,230 head.
There were also regions (north, northwest) that have seen larger declines in the volume slaughtered compared to other regions.
