Soybeans might set new record in 2016
With the 2015/16 season possibly being more profitable than the one before, soybeans remain competitive with other crops and are still the largest crop by area in Brazil. So the next harvest should set a new production record. For now, domestic prices are higher than a year ago in R$, but lower in US$.
At the end of 2015 productivity leapt by 27.6% based on the figures provided for the current season (3,087 kg / ha), increasing supply by 86.2%, if the 102.5 million ton estimate for the current harvest is confirmed - all record figures. Domestically, Conab says 44.5 million tons were processed internally and 57.5 million tons exported - also records. Domestic processing generated 31.19 million tons of soymeal, 15.5 million tons consumed internally and the same exported.
7.9 million tons of soybean oil were produced, with 6.4 million tons being sold to the domestic market and 1.4 million tons exported. Brazilian producers expect the dollar to remain at high levels.
