Brazil FMD-free for almost 10 year
Close to ten years without an FMD outbreak, Brazil is to review its national program to eradicate the disease.
The last occurrences of the disease were in 2006, in Mato Grosso do Sul and Paraná. Today, the only state free of disease without vaccination is Santa Catarina. Amapá, Amazonas and Roraima are not yet recognized as disease-free with vaccination. The other states and the Federal District are free of FMD with vaccination.
