Asian market: Myanmar might buy Brazilian beef
Brazil was last week visited by a technical team from Myanmar, led by the Minister of Agriculture, Ohn Myingm, to see slaughterhouses and assess the possibility of licensing the country to sell beef to it. The visit follows contact initiated by the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (ABIEC) in 2013.
Myanmar is one of the largest countries in Southeast Asia and has a population of 55 million. Brazil has never exported meat to the country. According to the executive director of the ABIEC, Fernando Sampaio, this is a market of great interest and Brazil is fully capable of serving the growing demand in the region.
