Marfrig: US will open up to fresh beef imports from Brazil in June
Marfrig believes that the opening of the US market to fresh beef from Brazil could be agreed at the end of June this year, at a meeting of presidents of the countries, says its Chief Executive Officer.
"The ratification of the agreement will happen when the two presidents decide to put it on the agenda, and we believe that this will happen at the next meeting," said Martin Secco, in an interview with journalists.
A visit by President Dilma Rousseff to the United States has been scheduled for June 30. According to Secco, the assessment of technical and sanitary issues to open the market has been completed. Secco said Marfrig can export processed meat to the United States, and this license could favor it in fresh beef exports.
