BRF to invest $ 16 million to increase chicken production in Argentina

BRF has announced an investment of $ 16 million in Argentina to double capacity at the Río Cuarto plant in Córdoba. The goal is to process 160,000 head of chicken per day by July 2016, according to information released by the Ministry of Industry in Argentina. With this, approximately 400 jobs will be created and 48 farms will be added to the current 38, with 96 new warehouses.

In 2014, the Río Cuarto processing plant exported 11,200 tons of chicken meat worth $ 22 million. For this year, BRF estimates exports at 19,600 tons, worth $ 50 million, increasing the average price per ton from $ 1,960 to $ 2,550.

BRF currently has six processing plants in Argentina, in the cities of Baradero and Llavallol (Buenos Aires province), Rio Cuarto (Cordoba), San Jorge and Arroyo Seco (Santa Fé) and Villa Mercedes (San Luis). BRF is the seventh largest food company in the world, accounting for 9% of world trade in animal protein and 20% of world exports of chicken meat.
