JBS shuts down 8 units after trucker strike
JBS decided this week to shut down eight poultry and hog slaughterhouses in Paraná and Santa Catarina after the truckers strike reached 11 states.
Truck drivers’ blockades have hit meat, milk and soybean production in Mato Grosso, Santa Catarina and Paraná. There is also a lack of fuel in four states.
According to the press office at JBS, the main problem is the interruption in the supply of grain for animal feed and supplies for industrial operations, such as packaging. Furthermore, the truckers are stopping empty trucks get through to collect finished products.
