Brazil's chicken meat exports to China, South Africa and the UAE up
China, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates were crucial in reducing Brazil's poor performance in chicken meat exports in January.
According to figures collected by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) in the month, there was a 9.8% fall in volume, to 277,700 tons, and revenue fell by 14.3%, to US$ 494, 5 million.
In January, China imported 18,900 tons, 16.3% up on January last year. South Africa imported 16,300 tons, up by 32.3% year on year. The United Arab Emirates, which is the fourth largest importer of chicken from Brazil, increased by its imports by 11.3%, to 22,900 tons.
Among the major importers, there was a 19.4% fall by Saudi Arabia (to 48,600 tons), a 37.8% fall by Hong Kong (19,000 tons) and a 22% fall by the European Union (28,100 tons).
