Meat starts 2015 facing setbacks
In January, the three major meats exported by Brazil saw volumes, prices and revenue fall. It is not only compared with December 2014 that performance is weak. The falls have been significant compared with January 2014, one of the worst months from last year.
The terrible results in January were not restricted to meat. Brazil's exports as a whole fell back to 2010's levels. While meat revenue was down on January 2014 by a minimum of 12.78% (chicken) to a maximum of 28.88% (beef), the revenue for the leading product exported by Brazil - iron ore - was down by more than 50%.
