Russians may have poultry production slightly higher in 2015 and should buy more from Brazil

The production of chicken meat in Russia should reach 3.4 million tons in 2015 due to the favorable prices of the input and reduced competition because of the import restrictions established in August, according to a report of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and its Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS).

The embargo in August imposed by Russia for one year, which includes the poultry meat from markets like USA, EU, Canada and Australia, eliminated about 60% of the total imports of chicken meat that occurred in 2013.

The Brazilian poultry industry became one of those that benefited the most from the embargo of Russia, with its chicken meat exports growing rapidly in the last months, and with expectations of growing even more in 2015.
