JBS closes gap on BRF after poultry acquisitions in Brazil
Acquisitions of poultry units by JBS, the largest meat processor in the world, have increased its Brazilian market share sand closed the gap on BRF, the local leader.
But this advance by JBS has not yet weakened BRF as the leader in chicken in Brazil, says an industry analyst.
JBS currently has a daily slaughter capacity of 4.5 to 4.6 million head of poultry, which should rise to almost 5 million with the incorporation of Tyson in the country, said a source with knowledge of the operation, who asked not to be identified.
BRF, the largest exporter of chicken meat in the world, currently has a daily slaughter capacity of approximately 7 million head of chicken in Brazil.
