After scandal, McDonald's Japan might buy chicken from Brazil
McDonald's Japan announced on Tuesday, July 29, that it is considering buying chicken from Brazil, as its largest supplier, China, is at the center of a spoiled meat scandal.
On Friday, the company suspended the import and sale of chicken and all its derivatives from China.
At the time, McDonald's Japan said it would buy all its chicken products from Thailand to "address the concerns of our customers." However, the president of the company in Japan, Sarah Casanova, has now said a contingency plan is necessary, and Brazil is a possible option. McDonald's has more than 3,000 restaurants across Japan.
