Beef exports reach new record in the first half of this year
Brazilian beef exports set new records for volume and revenue in the first six months of this year. Export figures for January-June rose by 12.7% in volume and 13.3% in revenue on the same period last year according to data released on Monday by the Association of Brazilian Meat Exporters (Abiec).
The increased demand from Hong Kong and Russia drove export growth in the period, with both remaining at the top of the ranking of markets for Brazilian beef. Brazil also strengthened its position as the leading supplier of beef to northern Africa, with a significant increase in sales to Egypt, Libya and Algeria.
