JBS increases presence in Australia with acquisition
JBS SA, the largest processor of beef and poultry in the world, has acquired a majority stake in Australia's Andrews Meat, in an effort to expand its processed meats and food service business in Oceania, the company's director of investor relations told CarneTec on Wednesday, July 9.
JBS Australia processes lamb and beef fed on high quality grain and grass, with ten processing facilities and five feedlots, and a daily processing capacity of more than 8,000 cattle, among other species.
The company does not expect the antitrust body in Australia, the ACCC, to look into the acquisition because Andrews Meat operates in areas that do not overlap with JBS Australia.
