Chicken exports down 9.8% in April to US$ 694.3 million
Brazil's chicken meat exports totaled US$ 694.3 million in April, down by 9.8% on the same period in 2013, according to the Foreign Trade Office (Secex) compiled by the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), which represents industries producing chicken and pork.
The fall in international chicken prices was the decisive factor, since the volume sold was a record for the period. In volume terms, exports of chicken meat from Brazil totaled 352,100 tons in April, up by 3.7% on the same period last year.
"The result confirms the moderate growth in international trade forecast by the ABPA for this year," said the organization's president, former Agriculture Minister Francisco Turra.
