Lower supply and strong demand increase live hog prices
The restricted supply of live animals and strong domestic demand have sustained high prices for live hogs and pork in every region followed by Cepea. In addition, the traditional recovery in exports has been confirmed, which could further boost prices in the domestic market.
According to Cepea, the high prices of beef in the second half of the month, during which people spend less, is contributing to increased demand for substitute meats (pork and chicken).
Live pig prices rose by 8.7% in SP-5 (Bragança Paulista, Campinas, Piracicaba, São Paulo and Sorocaba), trading at R$ 3.57 / kg on Wednesday.
