Brazil concludes opening up of Indonesian market for chicken

The director of International Negotiation at Brazil's Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC), Márcio Lima, says the last step is being taken in negotiations to open up the Indonesian market to Brazilian chicken, faced with the possibility of appealing to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
Lima says that among the barriers imposed by Indonesia to Brazilian chicken is greater strictness in Halal slaughter requirements. Brazil says the demands go beyond the rules in Codex Alimentarius, the international food standards code, and they are harming exports to the country.
