MAPA wants to include pork in minimum pricing policy

Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) has proposed that the Ministry of Finance include pork as of March on the list of products supported by the Guaranteed Minimum Price Policy (PGPM).
In March farmers normally begin to get lower prices, which bottom out in June and July. MAPA says its proposal is based on the variable costs of production estimated by the National Supply Company (CONAB) and the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA).
