Aurora ships 60% of pork exported to Japan
The Japanese market is being slowly opened up to pork from Santa Catarina state. From July (when the market was opened) to December, Cooperativa Central Aurora Alimentos, one of the first exporters, has shipped 125 tons. In January it has shipped another 75. Although a small volume, it accounts for 60% of Brazil’s sales to Japan.
“The growth potential is huge, but it will be gradual,” says the CEO of Coopercentral Aurora, Mário Lanznaster, adding that patience is needed in order to gain credibility and trust.
