JBS plans new slaughterhouse for northern Tocantins
JBS SA is to set up a new beef slaughterhouse in northern Tocantins in the first half of this year, the company said after a meeting with the state Governor, Siqueira Campos, on Wednesday, January 22.
Construction will begin in Araguaína, in February, and it will begin operations 120 days later, says Renato Costa, president of the JBS Group’s Meat Division.
The Governor expects over 10,000 direct and indirect jobs to be created. Tocantins has a herd of over 8 million head of cattle and enough pastureland to not need grain of feed, Siqueira Campos says.
