BRF received adulterated milk with ethanol, says public prosecutor
BRF received a load of refrigerated raw milk contaminated with ethanol, according to the Public Prosecutor's Office in Rio Grande do Sul (MP-RS). According to the office, the adulterated milk was processed and reached the consumer market. BRF has issued a statement saying the milk did not get to end consumers.
The problem was detected by the Ministry of Agriculture, which later passed on the documents relating to the discovery to the MP-RS. A load of adulterated milk contained 33,500 liters and was received by BRF on August 5 at its Teotônia unit, in Rio Grande do Sul According to BRF, the milk in question was separated soon after the Ministry of Agriculture informed the company about the possibility of a problem.
