Seara makes first chicken shipment to Mexico
Marfrig, through its subsidiary Seara Alimentos, has announced it has become the first Brazilian company to export chicken meat to Mexico. The first container, with 26 tons of chicken cuts, was shipped on Sunday, August 25. The load is expected to arrive at the Port of Veracruz on September 14.
The follows Mexico's emergency quota in July to import 300,000 tons of chicken after bird flu led to the destruction of a large number of birds.
For Marfrig, the opening of the Mexican market will have short-term benefits. With the sale of Seara to JBS, the company will stop producing chicken meat in Brazil.
