BRF files net profit of R$ 208.4 million in the second quarter of this year
Driven by improved exports, BRF filed a net profit of R$ 208.4 million in the second quarter of this year, much higher than the R$ 6.4 million filed in the same period last year.
In the second quarter, net revenue grew by 10% on the same period in 2012, to R$ 7.252 billion. This increase was due mainly to the performance of its export division, which considers the company's exports from Brazil and its overseas operations.
Brazil's largest exporter of poultry and pork, BRF benefited from the appreciation of the dollar against the real and from the reduced cost of grain used in animal feed. In the second quarter, net export revenue was R$ 3.424 billion, up by 19% on the same period last year.
