European Union: chicken meat trends in 2013 and 2014

In a short-term trend study, the European Community says its chicken meat production will increase by less than half a percent in 2014, and be around 12,665 million tons. This is almost 5.5% up on 2010.
Global consumption will increase more moderately, by less than 5%. Even this, however, means the region's exports will increase by approximately 15%, while the increase in imports by volume will be less than 10%.
Although per capita consumption is now increasing slowly - by 0.42% from 2013 to 2014, and 3.02% since 2010 - the share of chicken meat in consumption in Europe has increased from 28% to 29.5%, meaning it will have increased by 5.36% from 2010 to 2014.
