Poultry: 10 countries account for almost 63% of world production
Data from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for 2010 show that the volume of poultry meat from the ten-largest producers totaled 62.286 million tons, accounting for 62.88% of the just over 99 million tons estimated for that year.
The concentration, however, is even greater than it appears. The top three global producers - the USA, China and Brazil - accounted for practically half of the world's production - the US with nearly 20% of the total, China with about 17.5%, and Brazil with just over 11%.
