Record chicken and beef export revenue in the first half of the year
Chicken and beef exports in the first half of this year achieved record revenues for the period, while pork revenue fell. Chicken exporters have been able to pass on higher costs, while the volume of beef increased.
According to data from the Foreign Trade Office compiled by the Brazilian Association of Producers of Broiler Chicks (APINCO), chicken export revenue in the first half of this year was nearly US$ 4.1 billion.
Beef exports earned US$ 3.001 billion in the first half of this year, 13.6% up on the US$ 2.641 billion in the same period of 2012, according to the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (ABIEC).
