Relationships with farmers needs to advance further, says JBS
The Director of Farmer Relationships at JBS, Eduardo Krisztan Pedroso said on Thursday, June 20, at Feicorte that he can see an improvement in relationships between farmers and the industry, as a result of efforts by the two links in the chain, but there is still much work to do. "I'm optimistic. The farmers need to understand that we are a sales channel for their product," he said.
The relationship between the industry and farmers has always been troubled, but it worsened after the 2009 crisis, when many slaughterhouses closed down or were bought by larger groups. Last year, at Feicorte, discussions intensified and the idea to create a positive agenda came about, including retail.
