BRF invests R$ 58 million in innovation center
In an investment worth R$ 58 million, on Thursday, June 20, BRF opens its new product research and development center, in the city of Jundiaí, 60 kilometers from São Paulo city. The BRF Innovation Center will centralize the company's R & D areas, which until the end of 2012 were in Videira (Santa Catarina state) and São Paulo city. The centers were from the days when the companies Perdigão and Sadia were still separate.
The executive vice president of operations and technology at BRF, Nilvo Mittanck, says that building of a centralized research and development center began to be discussed in 2010, a year after the creation of BRF, which arose from the purchase of Sadia by Perdigão. Construction began the following year. "It was an important path to be followed to create synergy in research and development," he added. The unit covers 10,000 square meters and the investment includes mini production lines for meat products, ready meals and margarine.
