Mato Grosso do Sul to increase poultry slaughter in 2013
Mato Grosso do Sul state is expected to increase poultry slaughter in 2013 to more than 143 million head, the record figure reached in 2011, because production costs have improved. The outlook for the market, strategies in the poultry sector, and development policies will be discussed at the 1st Poultry Farming Technology Meeting in Mato Grosso do Sul on June 4, at the Federation of Agriculture and Livestock Farming (Famasul).
Last year, the state poultry slaughter in the state decreased on 2011, from 143 million to 140 million head. "There was a crisis in the sector in 2012, due to the high price of grain used in the manufacture of feed for poultry and pigs," says Famasul economist, Adriana Mascarenhas.
