Bird flu has not impacted chicken sales positively, says BRF
The CEO of BRF, José Antonio do Prado Fay, said on Tuesday, April 30, that to date the company has not seen an increase in chicken meat exports to China because of the outbreak of bird flu in the country. "But I see an opportunity for immediate growth in pork sales," he said.
With respect to the domestic market, the company is "positive but cautious," especially about recovering volumes. "There is concern in the government to boost consumption, but the population is still price sensitive. We have good indications that income and employment in the country are intact, but the problem is that current income for people is already committed, which hinders the advance of consumption," said Fay.
Among the product categories that fell in volume in the first quarter are perishables, such as processed and frozen foods. To try to recover volume in Brazil, BRF will be strengthening its marketing, increasing innovation in products and packaging, and increase the customer base.
