MAPA discusses requirements for pork exports from Santa Catarina to Japan

After seven months of bilateral negotiations, Japan has informed Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture (MAPA) what its requirements are for pork from Santa Catarina. Trade between the countries should start as soon as Japan approves the International Health Certificate proposed by MAPA.

In July 2012, Japan officially recognized Santa Catarina state as FMD-free without vaccination for pork. To complete the process and release exports, Japan's veterinary authorities had to send MAPA their requirements for the preparation of the International Health Certificate.
