Cade fines BRF for buying Doux
Brazil's antitrust body, Cade, has not approved the purchase of Doux Frangosul's pig slaughtering assets by Brasil Foods. The decision was made on Wednesday, January 29. According to a statement issued by the antitrust body, the rejection of the deal was unanimous and the rapporteur on the case, Elvino de Carvalho Mendonca, set a deadline for the sale of all the assets to a third party. Additionally, BRF was fined by the body. In October, CADE stepped in with regard to the acquisition. BRF then signed an Agreement to Maintain the Reversibility of the Operation (APRO) with CADE.
