Farmers in Mato Grosso do Sul want poultry farming included in PROAPE
Farmers in the Grande Dourados region want poultry farming to be included in the Livestock Progress Program (PROAPE). Through State Deputy Marcio Fernandes, the deputy leader of the government, farmers Lourival Ferrari, from Glória de Dourados, and Anísio Soares Ribeiro, from Itaporã, discussed the matter with the state secretary of Production, Industry and Tourism, Teresa Cristina Dias da Costa.
Representing the deputy, adviser Wagner Mascarenhas accompanied the farmers at the meeting on Monday, November 12, at the Department in Campo Grande. The meeting was also attended by the assistant secretary, Paulo Engel.
Costa Dias said a technical feasibility study on the inclusion of poultry farming has been carried out. She added that the study will be presented to Governor André Puccinelli and, if agreed, poultry farming may be included in 2013. The secretary said the government understands the importance of the poultry industry to the state's economy. She said the prospects are good for poultry's inclusion in the program.
