Pork exports earn highest monthly revenue
In October, exports of fresh pork earned US$ 153.30 million, 4.9% up on September and 27.5% up on October 2011, according to the Foreign Trade Office (Secex).At an average exchange rate of R$ 2.03 to the dollar, revenue totaled R$ 311.14 million in October. In real terms, allowing for inflation, this is the highest revenue since October 2008. The average price of fresh pork exports was R$ 5.74, up by 5.1% on September 2012, but 1.8% down on the average in October 2011 allowing for inflation. Last month's fresh pork exports totaled 54,200 tons, only 0.6% down on September, the biggest month since October 2009. Compared with the same months in 2011, however, the total is up by 41.1%.
