JBS fined R$ 3 million in Rondônia
The Labor Court has fined JBS, Brazil's largest meat processor, R$ 3 million for breaching labor law at its slaughterhouse in Vilhena (Rondônia state). According to state prosecutors, about 480 employees work in chilled environments, with temperatures below 10º C. This is 5° C below the limit established by the law.
The company was also ordered to establish 20-minute breaks after every 100 minutes of continuous work in chilled environments with temperatures below 15 º C, under penalty of paying a R$ 800,000 each time it is found to have breached the court order.
