Three Brazilian companies among the world's four largest poultry processors
A survey by Watt Publishing, a US company that publishes the magazines Poultry International, WattPoultry USA, Egg Industry, and Poultry Industry, among others, has shown that three of the four largest poultry processing companies in the world are Brazilian, including Pilgrim's Pride, which belongs to Brazil's JBS.
Brasil Foods and Marfrig, ranked second and third, respectively, account for about a third of production by the 10 largest processors in the world, whose slaughter totals 10.6 billion head.
Compared with the figures from 2011 for the two companies, BRF's figures are very similar. Marfrig has changed a lot, as its results last year showed total slaughter of just over 1 billion head, including units in Brazil and its subsidiaries in Europe, the USA and China.
