JBS's Pilgrim's Pride makes US$ 42.9 million profit in third quarter
Pilgrim's Pride, a chicken processor controlled by JBS, made a profit of US$ 42.9 million in the third fiscal quarter of this year, or US$ 0.17 per share. In the same period last year the company made a net loss of US$ 162.5 million, or US$ 0.72 per share.
In the first nine months of this year profit was US$ 151.7 million, compared with a loss of US$ 410.6 million in the same period in 2011. Pilgrim's earned US$ 2.1 billion in the third quarter, 10.5% up on the US$ 1.9 billion filed in the same period in 2011. EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was US$ 103 million in the quarter, compared with a negative EBITDA of US$ 84.1 million in 2011.
For the year so far, sales have totaled US$ 5.9 billion, compared with US$ 5.7 billion in 2011. The cumulative EBITDA is US$ 329.6 million, compared with a negative US$ 183.1 million in 2011.
