Cocari forecasts revenue of over R$ 1 billion with slaughterhouse
On October 16, cooperative Cocari opened a new poultry company, in Mandaguari (Northern Paraná state), aiming to raise its annual turnover from R$ 900 million (2012) to more than R$ 1 billion. The crisis in poultry farming has not affected the profitability of the project in the medium or long term, says the vice president of the cooperative, Marcos Antonio Trintinalha.
Before setting up the 32,500 square-meter slaughterhouse, a feed mill and a battery farm were installed. The cooperative has invested R$ 115 million - 75% of this amount funded by the state-owned investment banks, BRDE and BNDES. The business will start gradually and should be slaughtering 60,000 to 70,000 head a day from January on.
